The Miami–Fort Lauderdale–West Palm Beach metro is a three-county economy with one foot in the United States and the other in Latin America and the Caribbean. It is home to Lennar, Royal Caribbean Group, Ryder, World Kinect and Carnival Corporation, and since 2022 it has been the headquarters of Citadel. Brickell Avenue holds the largest concentration of international banks in the country. PortMiami is the busiest cruise port in the world. That mix produces a very specific kind of operational load: contracts, invoices, customs paperwork, claims and patient records, often in English and Spanish, often crossing jurisdictions.

That load is exactly where applied AI earns its keep, and exactly where sloppy AI gets a company into trouble. I work with Miami teams that want agentic workflows, retrieval over their own documents and private model infrastructure, built with the audit trail a regulator or opposing counsel would expect to see. International banking and investment firms

Brickell is the densest cluster of international banks in the U.S., and the metro now hosts Citadel's headquarters at Brickell. Private banks, wealth managers and trading firms here serve clients across Latin America, which means KYC files in two or three languages, cross-border source-of-funds questions and a heavy BSA/AML review burden.

How I help

I build retrieval-backed assistants that assemble KYC and enhanced due diligence packets from onboarding documents, corporate registries and prior case notes, and agentic workflows that pre-triage transaction monitoring alerts with cited reasoning for the analyst. Everything runs with access controls and logging suited to examiners. The KPIs: analyst minutes per alert, onboarding cycle time and the share of files returned for rework.

Trade, logistics and cruise operations

PortMiami is the world's busiest cruise port, and the metro is headquarters to Royal Caribbean Group (Miami), Carnival Corporation (Doral), Ryder (Miami) and World Kinect (Doral). Moving ships, fuel, fleets and freight generates bills of lading, supplier contracts, maintenance records and customs documents at volume.

How I help

Intelligent document processing that reads shipping, fuel and supplier paperwork, extracts the fields that matter, checks them against contracts and routes exceptions to a person instead of a queue. On the operations side, agents that draft vendor responses and reconcile invoice disputes against the source documents. The KPIs: cost per document, exception rate and days sales outstanding.

Health systems

Baptist Health South Florida, headquartered in Coral Gables, is Miami-Dade's largest employer, and the University of Miami, with its Miller School of Medicine, is second. Jackson Memorial Hospital anchors the public system. Patient communication here often has to work in English and Spanish, which adds to an already heavy documentation load.

How I help

HIPAA-conscious systems that draft prior-authorization packets from the chart, summarize long records for care managers, and answer patient and staff policy questions in English and Spanish from approved content only, with citations. Where PHI must stay in-house, I design private or on-prem model deployments. The KPIs: prior-auth turnaround, denial rate and staff hours per case.

Greenberg Traurig was founded in Miami in 1967 and is still headquartered here, and the city's role as a gateway for Latin American business keeps cross-border transactions, arbitration and real estate work flowing through local firms and in-house teams.

How I help

Private RAG over matter files and precedent so lawyers get answers with pinpoint citations, not paraphrase; clause extraction and deviation flags for high-volume contract review; and first-draft generation for routine documents with a human sign-off step. Miami's AI bench is built on research universities and a finance-heavy corporate base. The University of Miami runs the Frost Institute for Data Science and Computing, which lists AI and machine learning, data ethics and digital health among its focus areas and operates an AI-ready supercomputer for research across medicine, earth sciences, urban planning and business. The University of Miami is also the second-largest employer in Miami-Dade, so its health system is a real consumer of applied data science, not just a producer of papers.

On the demand side, the region's large headquarters, Lennar, Royal Caribbean Group, Carnival Corporation, Ryder, World Kinect and Citadel among them, sit alongside the international banks on Brickell and the Latin American regional offices of multinational companies. That combination creates steady demand for AI that works across languages, currencies and legal systems, and for people who can make it pass a compliance review.

I work with Miami companies remote-first from Minnesota, with on-site sessions in South Florida when they earn the flight: a kickoff to map the workflow with the people who actually run it, a working session with compliance or clinical leadership before anything touches production, and a launch week. Can you build AI that works in both English and Spanish?

Yes. Modern models handle both well, but the hard part is retrieval and evaluation, not translation. I index source documents in their original language, test answers against a bilingual evaluation set built from your real questions, and make sure every answer cites the document it came from.

We're a bank with Latin American clients. How do you handle AML and examiner scrutiny?

The AI assists the analyst; it doesn't make the decision. Every suggestion is logged with its inputs, sources and the model version, and access follows your existing entitlements. That gives your BSA officer and your examiners a clear record of what the system did and who approved the outcome.

Do you need to be on-site in Miami?

Not for most of the work. I come in for the moments that benefit from a room: kickoff, stakeholder workshops and launch. Everything else runs remotely with weekly demos, which keeps the cost down and the pace up.

Can patient or client data stay inside our own environment?
